sigmaERASMUS MUNDUS – SIGMA AGILE

Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries. In addition, it contributes to the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in Third Countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries.

Erasmus Mundus 2009-2013 is implemented through of the following actions:
Action 1: Erasmus Mundus joint programmes of outstanding quality at masters and doctoral levels including scholarships/fellowships to participate in these programmes;
Action 2: Erasmus Mundus Partnerships between European and Third Country higher education institutions including scholarships and fellowships for mobility at all academic levels;
Action 3: Promotion of European higher education through projects to enhance the attractiveness of Europe as an educational destination and a centre of excellence at world level.

European University of Tirana is part of the Erasmus Mundus Project Action 2 SIGMA AGILE, ‘Critical skills learning for innovation, sustainable growth, mobility and employability in the multicultural environment of the Western Balkans’, led by the University of Warsaw, Poland and in cooperation with universities from the European Union: University of Twente, the Netherlands; University of Salzburg, Austria; University of Milan, Italy; City University London, UK; and  universities from Albania and the region such as: University of Vlora; University of Shkodra; University of Prishtina, Kosovo; University of Novi Sad, Serbia; University for Business and Technology, Kosovo; University of Montenegro; University of Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina etc.
The Erasmus Mundus Project Action 2 SIGMA AGILE, ‘Critical skills learning for innovation, sustainable growth, mobility and employability in the multicultural environment of the Western Balkans’, offers approximately 150 fully funded scholarships for students, researchers, academic and administrative staff from the Western Balkans to visit one of the EU partner universities, and for students, researchers, academic and administrative staff from one of the EU partner universities to visit one of the partner institutions in the Western Balkans.  The project is funded by the European Commission.
